Next up in the traditional sailor tattoo artwork is the Pig & Chicken. Believed to keep a sailor safe from drowning due to the high survival rate of these animals in the aftermath of a shipwreck. Most often they were the only survivors since they were kept in wooden crates which would wash up on shore. "A pig on the right knee, safety at see... a cock on the left, never lose a fight."
